Porcelain fillings, which are custom-made to match the tooth’s color and shape, offer significant advantages in preserving the tooth’s natural structure and appearance. They are frequently used on molars in particular. Patients can use these fillings for many years, as if they had no filling at all.

After the tooth preparation and impression-taking procedures performed during the same appointment, the porcelain restorations prepared in the laboratory are placed in the patient’s mouth during the second appointment. Porcelain restorations have a more durable structure than composite fillings and are among the materials most compatible with tooth structure among the intraoral restoration materials currently available worldwide. Advanced technology is used in the preparation of these porcelain restorations.

With the porcelain filling method, healthy tooth structure in the mouth remains untouched. Maximum retention is achieved with minimal loss of tooth structure. Since they are made from a specially compressed porcelain and are not cured in the mouth, marginal leakage is minimal. This prevents cavities from forming under the filling and keeps the filling from falling out. Furthermore, these porcelains have a hardness similar to that of natural teeth and are biocompatible with the gums. Because their hardness is very close to that of tooth enamel, when properly polished, they do not wear down the teeth like other porcelains, nor do they wear down in the mouth like composite fillings.

Especially in cases of extensive tooth structure loss, it should be preferred as an ideal and protective treatment option over composite fillings or crowns.

Porcelain fillings are preferred in cases where there is significant tooth structure loss and composite fillings would be insufficient for long-term success.
